What happened
- On September 24, Meta published the official recap of Connect 2026 in its newsroom. Muse, its agent, is coming to the AI glasses and, according to the text, will be able to “act on what you’re looking at, so you won’t have to describe what’s in front of you.”
- The same document announces that Muse gets its own email address to complete tasks, and a voice mode that keeps the conversation going while the agent works in the background.
- Three pieces of hardware are added: Muse Charm, a pocket device with a real-time voice model; VR glasses weighing about 100 grams, the first certified IMAX Enhanced, with more than 100 live sporting events a year; and Ray-Ban Meta Audio.
- The hearing enhancement feature, for adults with perceived mild to moderate hearing loss, is priced at $149.99 and available only in the United States.
Why it matters
- The list of retailers connected to Muse is the operational fact: Walmart, Best Buy, Sephora, Gap, Instacart, Shop Pay, PayPal, GitHub, Box, Notion and others. Anyone selling online who isn’t on that list is left out of a storefront that isn’t browsed but delegated to.
- The agent’s email address shifts a problem the source doesn’t mention: any company’s contact forms, after-sales flows and contact management systems will start receiving messages written by software that behaves like a person. No spam filter or contact log distinguishes that difference today, and the work of sorting out who’s writing falls on the recipient.
- For teams in Chile and the region there’s a concrete asymmetry: the hardware and the hearing feature come with a price and a country; the agent comes with neither.
The number
More than 100 different AI glasses options is the target Meta states for the end of 2026, across Ray-Ban, Oakley and Meta Glasses.
Context
Three days ago, Nat Friedman acknowledged in a post of his own that Muse was inspired by OpenClaw, including the SOUL.md file. The note on Muse’s declared origin details that admission. Connect 2026 doesn’t mention it.
What’s next
- Muse on the glasses: “in the coming months,” with no committed date.
- Muse Charm: more details “later this year.”
- Hearing enhancement: United States, within 2026. No announcement for other markets.
- Expedia joins the connectors, with no timeline.
Bottom line
In September 2026 two companies presented the same move in different packaging: an agent that shops on your behalf from a closed list of retailers. The other version, that of agents that turn software into a buyer, arrived without glasses.
